1 Eilon Solan (former Blue Security) – Charging for mail & another registry. Frankly I’m not going there on this one. Both topics are not new. Nice cost modeling though
Lets move on.
2 Brad Taylor – Google. Gmail’s ‘reputation’. RBL’s are old eh ? I wonder who they have feeds from
. The system is based on domains, (best guess) SPF, PTR’s and Domain keys and the users hitting the spam and not-spam buttons. (a-la mail.com from the 1990’s ;)) and since they get so much mail they can authenticate SPF classically and make a best guess based on their past reputation data for that domain/ip. The reputation is based on 4 features, Autospam/ham and manual reports of ham/spam. Forwarded mail causes lots of problems as you’d expect.
3 Using E-Mail Social Network Analysis for Detecting Unauthorized Accounts; Adam O’Donnell, Walter Mankowski, Jeff Abrahamson. Cloudmark. Measuring suspicion (weak collaboration Etc) with one-way communication paths of historic usage.
4 An Empirical Study of Clustering Behavior of Spammers and Group-based Anti-Spam Strategies; Fulu Li, Mo-Han Hsieh – no summary yet.
