Festive spirit ? I doubt it!
As Donncha commented the other day about stock spam being almost illegible recently this advent weekend brings snow capped stock symbols. Font fans will recognise Almonte Snow pretty quickly.
So I have to ask, Is this a festive celebration or are they just avoiding the OCR techniques again?
WTF my mailbox exploded.
I’ve been on the business end of a long running joe-job for three (almost four) days now and it’s become apparent that I’ve to make some changes in order to deal with the stuff my system’s not currently delaing with.
Thanks to many mailservers including enough of the body about the spam much of the pain [...]
wrbldnsd, rbldnsd for windows
This is pretty neat, an rbl server for windows. I have no idea why people wouldn’t use a *nix but this appears to be an alternative. If you didn’t know:
Rbldnsd is a small and fast DNS daemon which is especially engineered for serving DNSBL zones. It can serve both IP-based and name-based blocklists. [...]

Batch and Online Spam Filter Comparison; Gordon Cormack and Andrej Bratko. Gordon offers a plug for Trec ;)  Read the paper, I can’t summarise this one! Captivating presentation by Gordon on the good bad and ugly comparison of DMC PPM Bogofilter LR and SVN classifiers. Possibly the best [...]

Modeling Identity in Archival Collections of Email: A Preliminary Study; Tamer Elsayed, Douglas Oard. More nodal analysys of the Emron corpus using address-name/nickname-address associations in headers and quoted headers. 96.7% entity accuracy is pretty impressive especialy with the weakest evidance. I have to wonder what else this could be used for if they [...]
